Hello All,
I'm Cindy from Southern Ohio. I have to add the "southern" part because if you've ever been to Ohio you know that being from Northern Ohio and being from Southern Ohio are like two completely different states. I'm located in the southeast corner directly bordering West Virginia and Kentucky!
I've been raising backyard chickens for about 3 years now. I must say that so far it has been a huge learning experience and even though I have a lot more learning to do I'm kinda getting the hang of it and I'm really enjoying it. My daughter shows chickens at the county fair for 4-H and last year was her first year showing and she walked away with 1st place in the fancy chicken class and 1st place in showmanship. There were nearly 30 in the class so that was excellent!!! I hope she does as well this year also.
I mainly joined this group to find out more helpful information on my chicken raising and maybe learn a few things about different breeds. Right now my daughter has chosen to show one of our little bantam roosters and he's really pretty but I'm not even sure what breed he is. We raised him up from a chick that we bought in a "mixed bantam" group from Tractor Supply. That's where we got our winner last year and our last years winner was a Belgian Bearded d'Uccle. I think the one we have now may be a dutch bantam.
