I am really new to chicken keeping. We started out with two chickens that lived in our house in CA about a year ago. We lost one, never figured out why. We homed to VA with our girl and have been adding to the flock. Our girl is a Cochin with this personality that is anything but a chicken. She runs with the dogs and goats any time food is around. We added 2 Barred Rocks, 2 Rhode Island Reds and an Americuana. Then I got creative and got a straight run of 25 Polish and other ornamental birds (that I promised my hubby I would not keep all of). Next, someone gave us 7 fertile eggs that should hatch tomorrow. The first one actually hatched today at 20 days. Every time I search the Web for information this site always pops up with so much helpful info. I fear I may end up the crazy chicken lady one day.
