Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
Completely new! We got our first flock of 3 chicks almost 7 weeks ago.
What breeds do you have?
We have 3 total: 1 Easter Egger, 1 Welsummer, and 1 Buff Orpington.
What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
Getting to know their personalities
Feeding them bugs from our garden
Forcing me to step away from my computer and spend time with them
What are some of your other hobbies?
Cooking, yoga, gardening
Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
Our family is me, my husband, and our 10-year old daughter. We also have a 3 year old dog and a betta. We have to keep the dog away from our chickens, but hoping that'll change! We live in SW Virginia.
Our chickens' home:
My husband built them a fabulous mobile chicken tractor that we rotate around the yard. We moved them outside about a week ago, and after only 2 days of putting them in the coop at night, they now go in on their own! So far so good!
Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?
Through googling questions about chickens. I thought I would join the fun!
