Hi!
Family of backyard enthusiasts here, all hens though... Roosters annoy neighbors here.
We have a blog about them at:
http://amorosofamilysouth.wordpress.com/
If you would like to learn more about our girls, or other weird goings on here. I built my own coops with zero knowledge ahead of time, but have gained a lot since, and have made them for friends and family.
The coops our girls seem to prefer are the open faced ones... Covered slant roof, but screen walls with nesting boxes in covered areas (no predators in the three years we have had our girls). The ones I designed were made to be disassembled in 2-3 minutes in case of tornados / hurricanes... Though I imagine 4H would find them useful.
My wife has taken great advantage of my "newly found woodworking skills", and has had me building shelving and closet areas since. Got to admit its been fun, and I get to do my outside work on the tool table near my girls, who happily crowd me watching LOL.
I look forward to being a productive poster here!
