Florida Chicken Lady
Chirping
Good morning everyone!
Here are some things about me:
(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens? Yes! I got my first chickens in November, a lady was getting rid of them due to having to move. 3 Roosters and 4 Hens
(2) How many chickens do you have right now? ok... sooo chicken owning is addictive... I now have 51 baby chicks nearly 2 weeks old and 17 coming in this week and 19 eggs in the incubator. Since the first chickens, I decided they needed a bigger coop with a nice size run, so we've been building it since November and it became quite a production, maybe a little overboard, not sure but we insulated the roof and the walls... lol oh and now we think it's going to be too little for the amount of chickens. It's an 8x10 but part of it is my storage, so it's really an 8x8 for the chickens... oops... so as soon as the run is done, we are going to build onto the coop.
(3) What breeds do you have? easter eggers, gold wyandottes, black australorps, black sexlinks, welsummers, cochins and a couple more
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens? The eggs are great and they are fun to have.
(5) What are some of your other hobbies? photography
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share. I have two adult children that are married to wonderful spouses and oh the grand babies, I have 3 of them!
I'm a Realtor
(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?
I found Backyard Chickens by browsing the net looking for chickens and ideas
