I've been raising poultry for most of my life. While I love all kinds of birds, at the moment the best birds in the world are my Silkies and Americanas. I'm trying to convince my husband that we really need Welsummers for the dark brown eggs but he's not budging. As I try to raise my own replacements I have to have 2 pens and double all the stuff that goes into keeping our chickens.
My maternal grandfather started me in poultry with a mixed breed box from Murray McMurray hatcheries. With my dad's help we kept chickens, ducks, geese, peacocks and even pigeons.
I'm mostly looking for all those clever ideas that other people seem to think up and make me slap myself on the head and say, "Now why didn't I think of that?"
