Just joined yesterday after purchasing 6 chicks the day before from the TSS in Bainbridge, Ga. All chicks are yellow and Pullets, at least that's what the clerk said!

I'll post some pics as soon as I can.

I've learned so much in the last two days by reading as many posts as I can on all the questions that seem to pop into my head about these new little ones.

I have a small 6 nesting box coop and 5' x 12' run that I purchased on Sunday off Craig's List. I'm currently "remodeling" the coop because it was in sad shape. I've also removed the chicken wire fom the run and am adding hardware cloth instead, because once in a while I have a raccoon visit. No sense in tempting fate.

Not sure what I've gotten myself into, but from reading all the posts, I think I'll enjoy raising my little flock!

Welcome to BYC!

You did excellent with replacing the chicken wire with hardware cloth. Chicken wire can be chewed thru so easily and just not worth using it if it doesn't protect your flock.

Great to have you aboard and enjoy your new adventure!

Thank you for the warm welcome and words of advice on where to go to learn more.

Yes, I'm definitely seeing this as an "adventure" of sorts. I'm sure I'll continue to lurk in the various forums to learn as much as I can before relocating these chicks to their new home. There is nothing like learning from others' adventures and/or misadventures.

Since I've purchased my little flock, two of my neighbors have come to visit and are now talking about getting some also. I'm not sure how contagious this is. If it's anything like our "yarn addiction," then we might be lost already!

Hi there! Welcome!!

I'm new here and to chickens as well. In the time since I joined I've learned SO much and it is causing me to change things in my coop and also how my next coop will be built! Talked to hubby today and we're already planning the brood pen!

Tell me how your coop is situated if you like :)
