Hi! My name is Cathy and I live in Tasmania.
(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens? I’ve been around chickens since I was a tot but have owned my own for the last 14 years.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now? We’ve currently got 11.
(3) What breeds do you have?
We’ve got duccle x pekin, pekin x silkie, silkie, pekin and most recently a new “duccle” which I don’t think is duccle
We recently lost 3 of our faves - a Brahma, a pekin and a duccle.
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
Love watching my ladies forage and them coming to talk to me whilst I’m gardening.
(5) What are some of your other hobbies? I love gardening and keeping Guinea pigs
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
I homeschool our four beautiful children. We’re just looking for a property where will hopefully be able to have some larger grazing animals… I’d particularly like a v small herd of cattle.
(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?
I’ve used BYC over the years as a go to to help answer questions. I’ve joined up now because I want to identify afore mentioned ‘duccle’!
