I am loving BYC! This is definitely the best website I have found for chicken care! I am in middle TN, about an hour south of Nashville. I bought 6 of my chicks 2 weeks ago from the co-op store here in town. 2 black sex-links (or black stars), 2 RIR, 1 barred rock, and 1 white leghorn. Im hoping that most of them are pullets! Then a week ago today, I bought a silver laced WYandotte, and a brown leghorn. UNfortunatley, I havent been able to get close to the last 2, they wont have anything to do with me and are scared to death when I put my hand in. Even tried treats, but they still wont come near me. The others come running. Anyhow, I also purchased 2 peking ducks last week. What a lovely, adorable mess they are! I cant wait until everyone can go outside! Some questions are, do the ducks need to be fenced in? We have about 2 acres, but live on a busy highway. Would they stay in the back yard with their water source (which will be a small pool) or probably leave the yard? I was hoping to free range them with the chickens, but may have to put up a fence on half the property anyhow. I would hate for them to get run over, or go to the neighbors yard! Anyhow, looking forward to learning alot from everyone here!
