I have had chickens just about all of my life (I'm 61 now) and just love them! I have only a small flock now due to raccoons this summer :( but plan on increasing it again next spring. A friend just gave me an older nice travel trailer to use as a chicken coop so was looking for ideas and found this wonderful forum and joined. Has anyone else ever done this? Pictures??? Due to winter weather coming on and hunting season, my good neighbor, "Mr. Wonderful" is going to pull the trailer to my place this weekend but we probably won't have a permanent set up until spring as he is going to remove my old chicken stuff to the burn pile first before setting the new coop up. I'll have plenty of tie to plan and dream. My granddaughters are eager to help!!! :)

Well HI! Welcome!

Great story! an old TT should work great for a coop! Give a shout out on this Have a look around and give a shout out on this thread for ideas. https://www.backyardchickens.com/f/9/coop-run-design-construction-maintenance
Put those grandbabies to work! My best memories.

You may find ideas that will help your convert the trailer to chicken coop use. People have made coops out of almost everything - old buses, train caboose, outhouses, kids' plastic play houses, swing sets, empty horse stall etc. Just check out the coops forum - for all sizes, all types, from shabby chic to Taj Mahal. Something may inspire you.
BTW Welcome to Backyard chickens.

glad you have joined us.

Try searching the forums for "trailer coop" and you'll get a long list of threads showing examples of what other members have done.

Good luck with your plans.

Thank you everyone for the nice welcome wishes!!!!! Thank you esp. to NorthFlChick for the link to other Oregon posters. :) I am excited to explore this site and the coop threads - I know what I will be doing sometime this weekend!!!!! My neighbor and friend "Mr.Wonderful" is bringing the trailer over and parking it for me. He will be leaving for hunting next week so between that and winter coming on we don't plan to actually WORK on it unless we get some really NICE winter weather and are bored. We are rearranging my barnyard and he will bring a small cat over to scrap off the old little animal residences into the big burn pile. I will use the winter to look thru all of my books, look online etc. to see and plan exactly the best way to situate it for weather and looks etc. I know that Mr. Wonderful will be doing HIS planning too so in the end we will probably join both our plans someway. :) I will post pics of our work when we start it. :)

@COSunflower all that planning will pay off in the end (plus, it will be a fun way to spend the winter). Looking forward to seeing pictures of your conversion!
