Hi All,

Like most - I don't know what I'm doing but I went for it anyway. We got a few chicks in mid march of this year, and have built a coop for them. There are 4 California White, 4 Golden Sex Link, and 6 "TSC" Ameraucana (notice I said TSC... there is online debate about what they really are.... )

So far, I like having them, it's nice to hear them and they are lots of fun for the kids. We have goats too and the kids like playing with them. We got the goats and the chicks to get our own milk, and the chicks for eggs of course. I'm an old time Silicon Valley type - who move out of CA to Texas (so you can guess where we are...).

SO - here I am! Like most of the things we get into it's great to have some online resources for questions so thanks in advance to everyone... cuz I'm gonna have them!

Welcome! I'm in north Texas, just above Fort Worth - met my husband Karl in southern California, we were both transplants from elsewhere, and after 10 years out there moved here to be able to afford our family life. That was 15 1/2 years ago. I guess I don't know enough about Silicon Valley to guess where in Texas you are. We're only allowed 3 hens here, I kinda envy your 14!
