Hi Everyone! I'm in Texas, and have been enjoying my first chickens since last year. I started with some Hens from Murry McMurry, and am enjoying the eggs daily. I also have started myself a small flock of American Breese, and Silver Grey Dorkings, which we will enjoy as future meat birds. Favorite Chickens? Hum.. well of all things my Whiting Green Hen that turned into a Rooster.. hey, it happens... but "Red" still follows me around everywhere, while keeping an eye on his ladies, and I somethings think me as well. He is extremely tame and docile. My laying hens are Bielefelder, Ameraucanas, Whiting Green, Whiting Blue, Cochins, and a White Laced Red Corninsh that loves to sit and chat about all her problems. She is so cute, and I think she's part puppy... my hens are a mix match of vibrant colors and personalities. I love it.
I had my first incubator experience this morning, and for a first timer, I had a 60 percent hatch rate, which made me happy. My German Shepherd has helped them hatch, willing them to come out. He's a good boy.
