Check out Murdoch's just south of C-470 and Santa Fe. They sell out fast, but get deliveries of new chicks throughout the week, pretty much every week in the spring. They had new ones come in today, but even by now they are probably gone. I've been calling them every couple days to find out what is showing up next... There is also a feed store in Brighton that I bought 4 birds from a couple year ago, buff orps, rhode island red and a speckled sussex, they should be easy to locate have a better selection than murdochs and seem to devote more of their store to chicks than Murdoch's, where they just have one or 2 breeds available at a time (and that's if you are very lucky) Before you buy a single chick, I suggest, get your coop going, make it predator proof and learn all you can about how they will impact your life, in both positive and in some cases negative ways... i.e. if you like to go camping, leave town etc once in a while, better identify now who is going to take care of your girls when you are gone, it's a bit harder than finding a dog sitter and while chickens are somewhat low maintenance, they do need daily 'maintenance' for lack of a better term. I'm on year 5 with chickens in Denver county. I love it, but it is definitely a life style change, and a bigger one than a lot of us realized when we started. Winter months can be challenging, especially if your coop is not designed from the start to provide a good balance of warmth / ventilation / space / etc.. Good luck and ping me if you need any local advise regarding breeds, etc.. Happy to share what I've learned. I won't mail order chicks because mine are pets first, and I have a requirement that I select the individual birds I want. Some hatchery birds have much better genetics than others. You can find them locally, start calling feedstores outside the metro area and you'll find something within an hour of your house. Good luck Start building your coop NOW. Trust me on that one lol.
