Howdy All!
First off my name is Brian, I live in south central Indiana, I am originally from New Hampshire, but moved to southern Indiana when I was 5, we owned 2 farms one at 550 acres and one with 287 acres, mostly Beef Cattle, though we did have 40 or so Chickens, 5 horses and 7 brothers and sisters! I lived there until I was 22 years old then moved up here Columbus, Indiana and met and married my wife of 20+ years, we bought a farm in 2007....Anyways, Before Easter I was telling the wife how cool it was to have chickens, she was like oh heck no!(City gal) well her mom bought all the grandkids baby chicks, well guess where they are?? They are here with me! my wife to this day still thinks I had something to do with her mom getting those, I'll never tell, lol! Here is what the Country store told me the chicks were,

3- Barred Rocks

3- Wyndottes

4- New Hampshires

They did tell me that they have a better than 95% chance of being all hens, but I do hope there is at least 1 Roo, I will have to get pics, I do love those Barred Rocks, they are beautiful! Have to reserve judgment on the others as they are not as pretty as those Rocks!

I found out about this site on a news forum, someone was talking smack about chicken and someone posted the link to this site so I followed the link and here I am!

My other Hobbies are: Amatuer Radio call sign: kb9lor am also a computer junkie, I repair and diagnose, pretty much a self taught IT man. lol I also have been an avid Hot Wheels Collector for over 25 years.

As I said above been married for over 20 years, have 2 daughters 1 in College studying to be a Nurse Practitioner<sp?> and my youngest is a junior in H.S. and also in Health Careers, but she is working with vets now and then going to college In Arizona and becoming a Officer with the ASPCA, in other words a Animal Cop. And she IS amazing with animals!

So Nice to meet everyone, I hope to chat with all of you!!

It is a great website and you will find all the help you need about chickens! This is the only place where people will actually understand how chickens can be so addicting!

This is a wonderful site. I got my first chicken last year... and I'm no spring chicken... and have learnt so much through this site.

My husband took the attitude of...you can have the chickens but they are all your's. That was last year. This year he has become an enabler. He goes out and watches the chickens with me and I think gets as much or more enjoyment out of them as I do. Now...if I could find a way to convince him that he likes them enough to clean the coop..lol.
