Thanks to Orpington Manor for telling me about this site. I have read much here as we got our first flock going last spring.
We have 10 chickens currently, all hatched (not by us) last March. They include one rooster and nine hens

Suzie - Red Production
Luna - Araucana
Weetzie - Araucana
Lucy Golden Rose - Araucana (she was actually "No-name" for months, then we finally decided on three names.
Char - Buff Orpington
Peaches - Buff Orpington
Kara - Buff Oprington
I need to do some research on the Araucana's, since Orpington Manor has told me they may not actually be that breed, so that will be my first reading. Even though it is cold, dark and rainy here, we are getting about six eggs per day. We decided to raise chickens primarily for the eggs, and I never expected to fall in love with all of them!
