Hey BYCers!
Just wanted to introduce myself! Living here on the east coast of Canada (pretty much can’t any farther east than here!). Last summer my wife and I bought our first house and adopted 5 chickens - 4 Red Island Reds and 1 Leghorn (I think…).
6 months ago I never would have thought that I’d be the owner of backyard chickens and, oh boy, have I had to learn quickly. Tragically, due to an illness, we had to put down one of the hens but the four are loving life. I can’t believe how awesome it is to have chickens - they’re so entertaining, curious, and…just…amazing!
Here’s a video of our girls: we have Pepper (the Leghorn), the Twins, and Pizza Crust (our kids felt it necessary to name her that for no other reason than that). Pizza is in the background near the entrance.
Just wanna say how great it is that this forum/community exists! I’ve learned so much about chickens (especially keeping them alive in our winter).
