Great forum you got here. I'm a newbie to raising chickens. I picked up 2 light sussex hens 3 days ago. A 10 week old and a 12 week old. I've never had or even held a chicken before then. Done alot of research before I got them and on the first day and night I locked them into their coop. Seems to have worked well, when ever I approach. .thats were they run too. So im guessing that they think of this as their safe place.
Hardest job is stopping my 4 yr old daughter naming them and getting attached to them as they are destined for the dinner table.
