I'm new here, but not new to chickens. I've enjoyed owning them since I was a teenager (a long time ago). Now my daughter is in 4-H and wants to have some of her own. So, we are here to get advice and learn about the breed we picked out, the lovely Speckled Sussex. Also, we are in search of hatching eggs from a show quality breeder. I am interested in pursuing a SOP with these beauties, so I don't really want to start with hatchery chickens. We have a small flock of hatchery quality purebreds of a wide variety of LF. We aren't breeding them, just enjoying them!

Hi, redsoxs. Thank you for all the info. I'm actually a transplanted Kansan. I lived most of my life in the Flint Hills. It's always good to hear from someone from my home state. I don't run into too many in NY!

Redsox has given you some great links, so I will just say - Welcome to Backyard chickens, hope you will enjoy it as much as we do.
