I'm Holly from Northern Roots Farm.
I'm raising dual-purpose, heritage breed chickens: Blue Cochins, Light Brahmas, Golden-Laced Wyandottes, Buff Orpingtons, and Barred Rocks. I have 21 birds right now, including two roosters (a Light Brahma and Barred Rock).
I'm also raising Muscovy ducks, Narragansett turkeys, and Bourbon Red turkeys. I also keep honey bees and raise red wiggler worms.
I'm a teacher by trade and run my school district's homeschool program; I love my job!
Raising animals and gardening in Alaska isn't always easy, but's it's extremely important in order to be as self-sufficient as possible.
