Hey everyone!

Me and my husband are new to a couple things: Maine (we're from Seattle WA), Farm life (both of us are suburban raised kids of former farmers), and chickens!!! We're finishing up our plans for our property in the Maine Highlands (a bit north of Bangor) and are already planning our first flock of friends to join us in the near future.

We plan on building a flock of Sussex, Rhode Island Red/White, Ameraucana, Legbar, and Marans (yes we know...ambitious haha) to join our pastures of milking goats and guinea hogs. It's gonna be a lot of learning, but we've already gotten so much helpful and wonderful advice that we would love any more. We definitely would love to meet any Maine homesteaders or chicken lovers in Maine as we have some big plans and goals for our chickens!

Welcome to our crazy chicken family! Wow you have some big plans there to work towards.

@aart is someone I would follow on these forums as they have much knowledge regarding cold weather chicken keeping and general DIY knowledge which might be helpful since you are basically almost in Canada.
