(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
We had chickens while I was growing up. I've raised them, worked on hatchery, broiler & breeder farms and in processing plants. I've learned a lot about these wonderful birds along the way, from farm to table. There is always new information and breeding any animal is a never-ending educational experience! I'm excited to be on my own adventure with my beautiful chickens!
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
Who's counting? Seriously...
(3) What breeds do you have?
Ameracauna, Araucana, Plymouth Rock, Maran's, Olive Eggers, Wyandotte, Australorp, Welsummer, there are probably more...
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
•I enjoy them very much
•Food security
•I'm addicted to incubating/hatching eggs
•I'm obsessed with the idea that I need to have every color under the sun
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
Arts & crafts, gardening (foods, flowers, trees), fishing
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
I raise registered colored Boston Terriers, registered miniature Nubians, Tamuk composite rabbits, and we just got started in beekeeping!
(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?
I've been on Google quite a bit, asking questions (Dr. Google, Professor Google, expert Google, guru Google, etc etc) and I've come across quite a few interesting threads from this site. I finally decided to dive into the discussions and join! Happy to be here!
