Hello from the mountains of California

I'm kind of new to chickens myself, but having lots of fun!

This is a great site, full of nice people with great advice.

bolo,

It's been a mild winter here @ 6000ft elevation, very little snow.

I have 30 acres here and have been "Off the grid" for 15 years now :)

Challenges.........Well, I built a 500 sqft coop last year and never got around to buying any chickens. So I thought I would put an order in online......oops, well online chicks are a "NO GO" do to the fact that only USPS will ship them. My ranch is located in a rural area and the Post office-USPS does not do home delivery and can not be trusted. I have had nothing but trouble with them over the years and only use UPS and FEDEX when ordering online goods. UPS and FEDEX are more than happy driving up the dirt road and dropping parcels off at my gate, rain, snow, mud no problem. Up here the post office is a joke! Im sure the USPS is good in other areas so I don't want to make a blanket statement about them sucking everywhere, just my local !

Plan B,

I am going to ask the folks at the feed store in town if they would receive my order.

Cheers,

Will
