Hi.. we are new to chicken keeping and so far only have two Bovan Goldlines. They are already making their presence felt. The garden has started to look like a smallholding and the chances of raising seedlings is now nil!

Where we are is rural arable farmland. We have a cottage overlooking the sea near the Village of Warkworth in Northumberland. A cold reminder of the North Sea either wafts over us or blows our sheds down. It is rarely flat calm. We have Buzzard, Foxes and Rats to contend with. There are visits from the occasional Sparrowhawk and Kestrel and we have a Catalan Sheepdog who is so far treating the hens as potential feathery footballs.

FFeeling our way with these two is a scary process. A bit like new parents again, we are worried about 'Getting it wrong'.. i guess relaxing and letting the birds dictate what they need is probably the best way!

Joining this forum has already proved very reassuring and extremely helpful. I have received loads of advice regarding composting poop and fully intend taking advantage of everyone's greater knowledge in future!
