First time Chicken owner. Having fun so far. I have 3... A blue laced red wyndotte, a golden sex-link, and a buff orphington. They are about 5-6 weeks old. The buff was introduced to the other two a few days ago and the smaller wyndotte pecked her a lot. She finally got fed up with it, and defends herself now, although I had to deal with a blood pecking frenzy by separating the wyndotte for a day which seemed to work. I guess she got a little revenge for the initial pecking welcome. Any suggestions are welcome.
from Ohio. So glad you joined. Anytime you get a little blood on a chick, you can put what is called Blu kot on it. It is a wound coating that helps hide the red which causes the chickens to peck.
