Hello Everyone,

We were planning on getting a dog, but thanks to our son's seventh grade science class, we joined the world of chicken owners! He brought home a French Maran, an Easter Egger and an Americana. We thought they were all hens. But alas, two of them have announced that they are roosters. Here in Los Angeles, we are allowed to have only one. So we are looking for a home for Eggbert. Our son is devastated and would love for him to have a home where he doesn't end up as dinner.

Help!

I'm from NC myself and this year started raising chickens and well...:jumpy chicken math took over and the addiction began! :lau I hope you enjoy it as much as I do here...I have met many wonderful friends and learned SOOOO much from many of the pros. P.S. I LOVE the name Eggbert!! However, I'm sorry you have to get rid of the rooster, he is gorgeous! You may wish to post in the LA forum about him to locate a good home for him.

Thank you for the forum advice. We'll give it a try.

Having had NO experience with chickens, I'm surprised that the thought of having to send Eggbert away makes me weepy, too. It's not just my son! But they are so cute and funny!
