My name is Lisa, I'm from Lexington Virginia. I am owned by 4 guinea fowl, and 29 chickens . :D
I have one German Spitzhauben cockerel, two mottled Houdans (one pullet, one cockerel), three Polish top-hats, six Cuckoo Marans, eight Easter Eggers, and nine Welsummers.
My guineas are the helmeted variety and are one pearl, two white, and one blue. They rule the roosters.
All my birds free-range from Sun-up to Dusk, and put themselves back in the coop. I keep the door open at all times. They have access to a creek, and I give them water. I have seen a golden eagle, several hawks, and have heard screech owls and coyotes. I don't have a predator problem because my guineas have big mouths. :)
Spoiled birds truly are happy birds, and their eggs are delicious.

Welcome to BYC!

Sounds like you have a lovely flock! Yes Guineas can be loud. But fun to keep!

Make yourself at home here on BYC and if you have any questions, feel free to ask. Welcome to our flock!

Hi Lisa, we are in Bedford County. Been thinking about getting some quineas, they sound like great birds to have around.

Oh, the guineas are great. They are little characters. Wish I had more, I just sold 6. I will start breeding them next year (in a controlled environ.) as they only lay eggs 3 months a year. The eggs are hidden all over the farm in bushes and hedges. Heaven knows if they'll be found by humans.

Hello :frow and Welcome To BYC! Sounds like you have an interesting flock, and that should be one colorful egg basket! Good luck on the Guinea egg hunt!
