Hello EVERYBODY!!!!!!! I am new here and to the world of chicken keeping!!! It's kinda funny how you can: talk about getting a few chickens one day, research online the different breeds
, catch yourself riding by a house with chickens.........just hoping to catch a glimpse of the beautiful golden/tanish colored chicken
.............STOP at this house for more info on the "beautiful golden/tanish colored chicken".....AND THEN ....... Find yourself: standing over a bin filled with chickens at Ace Hardware
........ slobbering over these chirpy little 'things'
that are NOT the 'beautiful golden/tanish colored chicken'
........and walk out with a box with the faint sound of chirping from inside...........look at your DH and see him carrying a bag with a silver triangular shaped thing sticking out
.....then look at your DS and see him carrying a small bag with little chicks pictured on the front
.....To sit down in your car and peek into the box to find out what is making that noise
......AND find out that you just bought 4
baby chicks!!!!!!!!! Then about a month later pick up
7 more............ PLEASE TELL ME
HOW THIS JUST HAPPENS!!!!!!!!
I have not figured it out just yet .................but someday............someday I will!!!!
( Ohhhh and I didn't even include the hours spent watching videos of coops, chicks, chickens, waterers, feeders.......etc.)
Well that is my story. And in the process of all of that I found all of you!!!!! There has been one sad note to the story. One of the first chicks that we got had scissor mouth. The first week we saw no change and her beak only had a tiny misalignment, but half way through week 2 I checked on "Lopsy" and unfortunately it had slipped into an 'L' shape. We tried with her.....but she only lasted another 36 hours. But I am glad that we took her home with us. She loved playing with the clover flowers in the back yard!!!!!
