Hello from the UK

Hello,
I've had pekin bantams for five years now, currently with an older flock of five hens: our matriarch Scoop (one of our originals), three year old Kyru, and our one year olds Pitch, and two frizzles Effie and Fizzgig. I bought hatching eggs for the first time this year and our broody Effie successfully hatched all six - mixed colours and three frizzles. They're now four weeks old and fluffy handfuls of trouble! They're the reason I stumbled across this excellent forum while looking for advice on preparing for and raising chicks.
Aside from my chooks, I'm also crazy about SciFi, cosplay, and writing books. Currently hunting for what my husband calls a real job now my three not so little monsters don't need me staying home so much.

Hi back from the uk, sounds like you've got rapidly expanding brood going on! Just started watching the X-Files from the start with my 17 yr old...funny but I don't remember any of them from when they were first screened. My daughter also enjoys cosplay...just went to Manchester comic con as marceline from adventure time...who do you cosplay? I look forward to reading your posts :)

Welcome!

:D There's a movie thread, I was telling Drumstick Diva that I was considering going just because of Idris. There's also another movie coming soon with him in it, which I also might see just because of him (although Kate Winslet's also in it, and she's usually good too).

Your chickens sound cute. I've got some "silly chooks" too (that's what someone called fancy bantams, and I've stuck with it.

I love the creativity of the cosplay community and like scifi.

Which part of the UK are you in?

I'll have to look up that thread.
'Silly chooks'?! I just call mine cute. :) I have to say the frizzles look pretty crazy though.
I'm in Colchester, Essex.

Oh, cool! My kids do cosplay with me too (but hubs refuses to join in). I did the adult/black costume Anakin from the Star Wars prequels last year for my first full cosplay (I don't really look like him but I don't really look very girly either and I definitely do not have the figure to pull off some of Leia or Padme's outfits). Last year my 12yo son did General Hux, and my daughter did Rey, and also Connor from Primeval. This year my youngest is doing Luigi from Mario brothers, 12yo the Witch-king of Angmar from LotR, and daughter is Tauriel from the Hobbit. I wanted to do Han Solo but I've run out of time and money. Sigh.
