Welcome my advise is do what works for you. There is total confinement, Pasture (locked up at night) totally free range( Rambo chickens). There is commercial feed, make your own feed, table scraps, compost feed. Choose your breeds modern production, heritage, feral. Enjoy the adventure. Joining BYC was probably the best thing to do. What kind of chicks did you buy?
