(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
Very new to chickens and did not expect to become this obsessed. We got our first chicks on April 1st and quickly discovered what chicken math means.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
15!
(3) What breeds do you have?
In the hopes of a colorful egg basket we have a collection of blue-laced red wyandottes, buff orpingtons, an olive egger, a black cuccoo maran, easter eggers, black australorps, and an ancona.
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
Chicken therapy! We spend hours hanging out with our chickens, watching them, feeding them, and just generally talking with them. Learning the different personalities and just generally being involved. Definitely didn't expect this much enjoyment out of the experience.
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
Reading, board gaming, paddle boarding, and crafty hobbies like knitting and sewing.
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
I'm a data analyst who spends all day working in spreadsheets, yay fun! We also have two dogs.
