Hi Everyone from Florida. New to Chicken world but trying to learn all I can.

I have Rhode Island Reds, Barred Rocks and Dominiques.

I am very interested, I am looking to enlargen my flock. We currently have 3 silkies. 1 rooster and 2 hen's. I am from lake luzerne, about 10 minutes from Glen's falls in upstate New York. Thank you

That is awesome! Our yard is Farley small, our house sits on an acre. Then we own the side last that equals to an acre as well. So we currently own 2 acres. We only have 3 silkies chickens. I've been trying for weeks to buy more that are 6 mo this to a year. But that's super hard and in struggling to find them. Lol. But next week when tractor supply gets baby chicks. We are definitely going down that route.

that's probably a good plan.. I'll probably hatch this year as usual, but I hatch out mutts and naked necks. I'd get TSC chicks but it's too early for me as I've sworn off brooding in the house. :)

That's awesome! Do you know where we can get chicks ranging in age between 6-12 months? It's so hard searching for them. Maybe, do you have any friends selling a few. Doesn't matter what kind, just trying to increase egg production. Thanks for any help you can give :)

I'd probably check craigslist.. I don't have any in that age range - all my chickens are at least a year old. Be careful when you buy chickens from others - make sure you quarantine them from your other chickens for a month or so. Even if the person selling them has perfectly clean and healthy chickens, there can be issues brought up when moving chickens around due to stress, different bacteria at your place vs. theirs, etc..

Jeez I new to quarantine them, I didn't know for a month. I was thinking roughly 2 weeks. But I will keep that in mind. Thank you for the heads up. It was good talking to you and hope to hear back from you.
