Hi, I'm Lois and my husband, two kids and I have five young ladies who we assume are easter eggers. We thought we were getting amerucaunas, but they are all so wacky and different, they are true mongrels! We live in urban Santa Ana, CA. We also have a dog and cat who simply ignore the chickens. There is a hawk in our neighborhood, so we are always on watch when the chickens are on walk-about (most afternoons) The girls were all born the Wednesday before last Easter, our biggest girl began laying about 9 days ago, all light brown eggs, one a day (at exactly 10:45 each day!) The other girls haven't started yet. I've been reading many posts here and have learned a LOT! Thanks for the guidance you didn't know you gave me.
