Hello from Utah!

Welcome to BYC!

Frindizzle - I noticed you make goat milk soap. That is also one of my hobbies, although it is mostly for my mother who swears it is the only thing that keeps her skin from becoming dry and itchy in our climate.

Welcome! I'll be seeing you on the Utah thread! I noticed your name is "Spinning Carrie." Do you spin yarn!?!

I do indeed spin yarn! I use both a wheel and a drop spindle. I teach sixth graders, and in my medieval unit I make them drop spin, which is fun to watch. I had to take up knitting to use up my yarn, and that has taken on a life of its own.
Thanks for the welcome!
Carrie

Awesome! Where do you source your fibers from? I'm here in Cache Valley. I have only used a drop spindle but am saving my pennies for a wheel. :) so great you are teaching kids these fun skills!

There is a lady in Centerville that I took a spinning class from and she sells roving. The class was also nice because she has quite a few wheels that you can try out and see what you prefer, and she taught you how to process a fleece. Her website is: judysnoveltywool.com, I've also purchased online, which is always a gamble, but I've had good luck with it. My wheel is an older dual drive Ashford Traveller, and I love it!
