I have had a few chickens over the years but never anything serious. I recently acquired a rooster (long story) and will be adding some hens this week.
I appreciate any and all feedback or suggestions as I expand my knowledge. First order of business is to identify my rooster’s breed on the breed thread. Thanks!

Do you know about chicken diseases...how highly contagious they are?
Do you have a place to keep this new bird far away from your current flock for a month or two?

Yes, I am a former vet tech and currently he is the only one on our farm. Once his girlfriends are chosen and arrive they will be quarantined separately until they are both deemed safe.
