this is a great forum to find. After 35 years I've finally got my acreage and my daughter is soon going to get her chickens. SHe wants to be a farmer when she grows up.
We are currently in the process of making a coop, are refurbishing an old hay shed. She's going to be lovely, lucky birds. A bit costly, more then what hubby thought, but, he's a city boy, so he's new to all this.
Looking forward to getting all my answers questioned here, a very informative site indeed.

thanks for the welcomes.

I am hoping the chickens are just the beginning of my new hobby farm. I have hopes for many other critters too.

Already have two dogs, a cat and some fish. Next chickens, then ducks, then two goats, then a family horse, some mini horses (2), a rescued veal calf (not for eating) That should do it.
Not sure if I'll be able to get all the above listed, but, I'm sure gonna work on it. haha.
