I have 6 Rhode Island Reds that are 1.5 years old. They've all been laying since 17 weeks and I've gotten at least an egg a day from each hen since. Today I went out to do a deep clean of the coop and one hen is wheezing. I've been reading about respiratory illness and worms. How do I know what to treat?

Ok. If I treat with antibiotics, do I isolate the wheezing hen? Any ideas where to put her? Or do I add med to water for all to drink? Do I dispose of eggs for that week? Should I post this in another forum?

Hi, welcome to BYC!

You'll need to isolate her from the other birds so whatever she has, they don't get. Or so they won't bother her while she's ill.

Put a post on the emergencies/diseases forum explaining all her symptoms, is she eating/pooping/walking around...everything you can think of that will give the experts over there a way of figuring out what's going on. Here's a link to take you there:

I hope your girl will be well soon!
