Greetings All,
I found this site when I was looking for pictures of wood duck duckling. I was brought two baby ducks today and I am trying to find out If they are wood ducks. they are brown and yellow and have very long narrow beaks. Their feet are yellow and brown. One very quiet and the other one is trying to take off my finger. I don't know their age, each one is all fluffy down. They were found on the road side and no momma.
Unfortunately I found the quiet one dead an hour ago. I have no idea why. I had food ( non medicated) and water. the water wasn't very deep I wasn't sure how water wise they were. and of course a heat lamp. The pictures that I have found either are too far away or not clear enough or the angle is wrong to see the beak clearly. I think tomorrow I am calling the Vermont Institue of National Science or VINS as we call it. They take in all kinds of birds. They may take this baby for me.
I have raised chickens at different times thru out my life and now I have Pharoah Quail and Ringneck pheasantsand a couple of slate turkeys. I have always been a farm girl and while my two children were growing up we raised all our beef, pork, chicken and Of course I was able to have my childhood dream of having a horse or two.
My Poultry barn is an old camper I have cleaned out and have wonderfull windows and insulation they can't get to. This barn is not taxable because I can move it if and when I need too!
I am glad I have found this site!
