Hi every member of BYC.
I have just found out this Forum while searching source ornamental pheasants.
The first thing make me be impressed is that the Forum opens to the world not limited for any certain territory/country. Thus hope that I will receive a lot of information/help/instruction from all of experienced members.
Recently, I have been interested in Pheasant species, in general. I am surprised to realize that many Pheasant species are endemic to the rain- forest of Vietnam or Southeast Asian countries like China, Phillipines, Cambodia and Thailand. But, due to many reasons, especially hunting, some kinds of Pheasant now are endanger in wild like Edward 's Pheasant or Palawan Peacock Pheasant.
For instant, Edward 's Pheasant, was introduced to Europe over 100 years ago. Now it has been available in many countries while it can not find out any for breeding in its cradle country, ironically.
Thus, I wish I could " re- introduce " some ornamental pheasant to Vietnam either it is endemic or not, provided that it is beautiful for two purposes:
- enrich collection of VN breeders
- enrich number of Pheasant in wild via releasing ( once we have enough chick. Why not ? )
Besides, being a member of BYC, it will enlarge my information via on- line exchange. Hope that I might contribute a modest information with other members, regarding VN side such as Jungle Fowl .
Nice to be acquaintance with everyone
