Hello BYC!!,

I am a youth breeder of Holland Lop Rabbits and soon I'll be getting into breeding chickens. I'm located in Virginia and I love Agriculture. I'm very interested in all kinds of livestock including Rabbits, Poultry, and Sheep. I like gardening and growing herbs, I like DIY and trying to live a more natural life, and really trying to get back into the roots of what really grew the USA --- Agriculture. I also like writing and reading, so an Ag blog from a students point of view may be coming soon! I'm also VERY interested in the Heritage, Heirloom, Rare breeds of all kinds of livestock and hope to get into some Rare Chicken breeds soon.

I'm excited to start here on BYC and extend my knowledge!!

Hi :welcome

Glad you could join the flock! You have some great interests there and should get plenty fresh air with those too! I too love being outdoors with nature. Do you have an idea of what breed/s you would like to start out with? The learning centre would be a great place for you to check out, here is the link ~ https://www.backyardchickens.com/atype/1/Learning_Center
Lots of fab articles there that will really help you get started.

Wishing you the very best of luck and enjoy BYC :frow

I actually already have a small flock of about 22 birds. RSL, Buff Orpington, Easter Egger, GLW, New Hampshire, Barred Rock, Black Australorps, and Bantam Cochins. All are hatchery stock and definitely not breeding stock. They are just for the sole purpose of entertainment and egg laying.

I want to start in breeding some Heritage/Rare breeds but I cannot decide which I am interested in. Too many options!!
