Hello! I've been a lurker for a while now, but finally registered. I'll answer the sample questions to get started.
(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
Yep. Never had chickens before. We get fresh eggs from a friend that has a small farm and raises quite a few of them. We decided that it would be a good experience for us and our children to raise some ourselves.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
None yet... But we'll be getting 6 chicks in mid March.
(3) What breeds do you have?
I've ordered:
2 Ameraucana
2 Buff Orpington
1 Rhode Island Red
1 Salmon Faverolle
(4) How did you find out about BackYardChickens.com?
Not sure anymore... probably from Google searches and then browsing the forums.
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
Building stuff... I've got an A-frame chicken tractor under construction...
Anyway... looking forward to them coming soon and hoping for success. I've been reading a lot on the forums and will probably post some other questions. Thank you to the community in advance!
