Hi All
We started our chicken journey around midsummer when we were given three older hens that are decreasing in production and a small coop by my partner’s parents. I’ve always wanted chickens but never had the time or space so this was a pretty easy entry for us.
Right now we have Rick, Morty and Summer/Buttercup but we’re able to have 6 and hope to add a couple more once our new coop is complete. We believe Rick and Morty are Red Sexlinks and about two or three years old. S/B is unknown breed but is older and doesn’t appear to be laying any longer. They were kept in the run at his parents house and seemed to not be interacted with very much. They’ve been so fun to watch in their retirement years as we get to know their personalities and as we’ve allowed them to free range around our yard when we’re home. I should say we’re in the middle of the city in Richmond so our main predators are our two greyhounds.
I’ve learned so much from these forums already and I’m glad to finally join!
