I've had chickens for almost a year now. My current laying flock consists of an RIR rooster, 2 Buff Orps, 3 Easter Eggers and one very snazzy Golden Laced Polish named Kevin - as total newbs, we couldn't figure out if she was male or female until she started laying. ( I'm thinking everyone should have a Polish, they speak chicken with a Polish accent that just makes you laugh to hear it) . I'm also honored to have in my care 10 Dorkings and about 100 Speckled Sussex. Throw in a trio of Khaki Campbell ducks, and some farm yard mix chickens and you have my poultry menagerie. So much to learn . . . but after lurking off and on for more than a year, I know I'm in the right place. Hope ya'll don't mind a lot of questions.

Welcome from central VA too! I want to hear more about your Dorkings -- what variety do you have and where did you get them? My daughter's just started with Silver Grays from McMurray, but we'd love to add new blood some year (especially from a source within driving distance).
