Hello all, I'm pretty new to raising chickens. I got my first batch of chicks last spring (one mother hen + 7 chicks, 3 chickens that were about 3 weeks old and another 5 chicks hatched in an incubater) The mother hen hatched out 3 more late summer/early fall last year. Out of those 20 chikens total I have 6 left..... I butchered three, Owls are not my friends. I have since made a bullet proof (so far) chicken coop/run. I refer to it as the "chicken jail" So much for free range.
I currently have 9 eggs that should start hatching in a week. My original mother hen did not make it (owl) so this will be the new momma's first go round.
