I am not exactly new to chickens having raised them when the kids were babies. I guess I just think about it more and want to do it right. Grandmother and Granny made it look easy. I have 7 older hens and a rooster and 9 Buff Orpingtons, 8 pulletsbeginning to lay and a rooster.
I also have 2 grown children, 1 daughter- in -law, 3 granddaughters ,and 3 grandsons. Oh yes ! And a Husband, Pete. What a mouthful.
Pete and I have 13 acres in the country, shinnery to be exact. That is huge oaks, brush of many kinds, and briars all so thick its hard to get around with many, many thorns. Did I mention the sand? It's not good for much but coastal bermuda(irrigated), goats, and chickens. The grandkids love it and so do I. They are working on a treehouse and I am working on goats and chickens.
