Hello,everyone!
I bought my very first chicks Saturday, March 14th! This site has been wonderful in helping me to raise these chicks! They have been alot of work, but such a delight. I lost a chick yesterday, It was very heartbreaking. I believe "pasty butt" may have been the culprit. I had one other chick who showed signs of it as well, but has seemed to bounce back much better. I have been sprinkling some chick grit in there food the last couple of days and plan on giving them their first treat tonight or tomorrow. I thought I would start with some hard boiled egg. Actually, I guess I should say second treat...I gave them a dirt bath earlier to scratch around in and one of them found a small worm! What a hoot! It's the loudest I have hard them chirp! They are very funny and I can't wait to continue this adventure with help from the rest of you! Keep posting all the great questions and advice! God Bless!
