So, I never did get chickens that spring, I got pregnant instead.

Now I have a toddler and we FINALLY got the chickens this morning (and 3 alpacas a few weeks ago)!

We ordered them from Sand Hill Preservation Company (where we also get 50% of our garden seeds and our sweet potatoes).
We got 28 instead of 25, but I'm not sure how many of which breeds yet, because I haven't been home to see.
My husband says one of them has a crooked neck.
I've been reading the forum today and giving my husband advice by text, which is really silly.
I'm so excited to see them!!

search for info on WRY neck, it usually is treatable if noticed early. Get him some polyvisol infant vitamin drops (NO IRON) - Walmart, drug stores etc, carry them Give him 2 drops 3 or 4 times a day. This usually helps over time More info.one "emergencies, diseases etc. forum.

Sometimes it's caused by nutritional deficiency, big chick crowded in small egg, bump or injury to the head

Thanks!
The crooked one got better (not certain why, but glad it did).
We lost two, and one was definitely complications from pasty-butt. The other we don't know why it died, but the rest have been fine.
They're six weeks old now, and I'm starting to be able to tell the genders.
