Ok, so no chickens yet, but working on it....

How did any of you convince your skeptical spouse (or neighbor, or family members, or friends, or coworkers) that you weren't insane for wanting chickens in suburbia?

I'd like to get 3 hens... maybe dominique and americauna, but someone mentioned silkies, which are definitely cute, so now i'll have to look at them too!

Edit: i saw I should add a little more info

We foster dogs for a local rescue, and also have a couple of snakes, including a 9 ft + columbian red tail boa. We have a small yard and I'm an unsuccessful gardener, so I decided to plant raspberries, blueberries, and a few other fruit trees in the hopes that they'll be easier... No kiddos, so chickens would be MY pets.

now, off to work!

Welcome to BYC

I was convinced after dh bought an incubator and hatched some eggs. Once we had little fuzzy butts running around I couldn't resist. Now I can't imagine not having chickens. Good luck.
