Greetings from Southeastern Wisconsin!
I am Liz and my fiance is Jason...We are the proud first time parents of 3 Hyline girlies, as of yesterday...eek! They are already laying and seem to be settling in nicely...we are preparing to release them in our fenced in backyard later today, after they get acclimated to their new coop. I'm so excited to have them and am loving checking the nesting box for eggs...it's so fun getting a little "present" each morning! They haven't really warmed up to me and let me touch them yet. Any tips? (I've got scratch feed & mealworms!)
We've got a clowder of 5 cats in addition to our feathered friends, and my step-son lives with us half the week. We enjoy feeding the wild birds in our yard as well, and as we're first time homeowners, doing all the things we couldn't do in rentals...gardening, chickens, bees, etc. My brother in law (in Hawaii) who also has backyard chickens, mentioned this website as a good resource. Happy to be here!
