My name is Briana Gregg (Gregger-Egger) and I live with my family in rural Wisconsin. When my girls were little, we kept a dozen or so chickens and a few turkeys in our backyard in the Central Valley of California. We recently moved to Wisconsin to be near family and for me to take a job as a biomedical researcher at UW Madison. We currently have 3 teenage chickens that we raised from week-old, and two 2-week chicks that are bringing up. When we got our chicks, the lady at the feed store was unsure about the breeds, so we'll wait and see what we get!I have enjoyed raising chickens because they are hilarious little creatures that are fun to watch. When my girls were younger, they learned to take care of our flock and even sold some eggs to neighbors.
Other than our chickens, we have 3 dogs, a cat, a bearded dragon and a tortoise on our 5 acres. It's an unconventional little farm out in the middle of nowhere, but we love it. We enjoy taking walks and uploading pictures of interesting plants, animals and insects onto iNaturalist. We're learning a lot about Wisconsin's native species and rich natural history.
