My name is Patti and I have just become the proud owner of 10 ducklings. They are about 1 week old and growing fast. I would very much like to add chickens to our small flock as well. I have raised ducks before but last year we lost all our ducks to predators. I have a large dog kennel with the coop in the center and something opened the gate and took all 7 ducks. We never heard a thing. Right now the ducklings are living in my breezway in a large plastic dog kennel and are a source of endless entertainment for our foster kittens. The weather has been so nice here in CT that I had them outside in the run yesterday and they loved it! I also have a plastic kiddie pool that's their second home so they can run play and swim a bit in the plastic tub in the center. WE have about a half acre pond on our property and the ducks will eventually move down there. I am feeding a combination of wild game crumbles, chopped greens, freeze dried meal worms and a bit of fresh fruit. They LOVE the meal worms. I laugh because they never seem to be full. They eat an amazing amount of food. One od the smaller has a limp and I am bit concerned with her. She's smaller than the rest but very plucky and is always the first to take the meal worms from my hand. I will include picture shortly.
